Centre of Excellence (CoE) For Application of Coir Exclusively or in Combination with other Natural Fibres is established at IIT Madras as part of the MoU signed with The Coir Board, in view of augmenting the organization for its research and technical demands. The centre aims at enhancing the application portfolio of coir fibre derived products by conducting fundamental and state of the art research and introducing new codal recommendations and updating the existing ones to enhance the reach and acceptance among the practicing professionals. Further, one of the core agenda of the centre is to facilitate the knowledge and technology transfer into the public domain and towards this goal, workshops, seminars and training programs are organized.
