Application of Coir Exclusively or in Combination with other Natural Fibres
The Centre of Excellence established at IIT Madras in collaboration with the Coir Board is aimed at providing research and technical assistance towards broadening the realm of industrial applications for coir fibres. The following specific objectives have been envisaged as the primary target activities of the centre.
| Undertake specific research projects as per the coir board requirements. |
| Invite research proposals and evaluate them on behalf of the coir board. |
| Provide technical advice and recommendations at various stages of the coir fibre derived product manufacturing in view of optimising the procedure as well as for minimising the environmental. |
| Conduct seminars and workshops to enhance the knowledge sharing among the academicians and practicing professionals. |
